THOUGHT LEAGUE.
ENJOYABLE MEETING. The Women’s Thought League held its May meeting on Friday last, when there was a good altcndance, about 70 being present. A very enjoyable programme was submitted. Mrs McKinnon sang a couple or songs beautifully, as also did Mrs Le Petit, who played her own accompaniments, Mrs Prentice assisting the former. Mrs Provis, in her remarks, appealed for more tolerance and friendliness amongst people generally.
Rev. Gilbert gave an address on “High Thought,” which was eagerly listened to.
Tea was then handed round by Mesdames Andrews and Scrimshaw, after which Mrs Bradley recited. Mrs Green also gave a couple of charming pieces. At Ihe close of the afternoon a vote of thanks to Mrs lc Petit was proposed and carried by acclamation. “Auld Lang Syne” was then sung by all. The League is very sorry to lose the services of Mrs lc Petit, who lias so willingly assisted when asked. Many new members joined up, and altogether the gathering was (iuilc a happy one. At the next meeting, which takes place on June 25, Dr. Spencer has promised lo speak on a subject, that will appeal to ail. A largo meeting is expected and a good programme is being arranged.
