AUSTRALIAN STRIKE.
BITTER FEELING MANIFEST. COLLIERS AND ENGINEERS. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY', June 3. A special conference between the Miners’ Central Council and officials of the Euginedrivcrs’ and Firemen’s Association in an endeavour to reach a settlement of (he coal strike, failed to arrive at a decision. The conference will be resumed to-morrow, but the outlook is noL promising. The dispute at the Clyde Engineering Company’s works lias been settled. The management has agreed to re-en-gage Hie six men who were discharged in connection with the -ii-hours’ week strike. The Federal Government lias decided lo make available 200,000 lons of the Navy Department’s coal at grass in New South Wales to enable the essential services and industry to lie carried on during flic coalmining strike. The Government has also reconstituted the Coal Advisory Hoard. This will immediately consider llie distribution of the Navy’s coal supplies.
