FIRST REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. AUCKLAND v. WATKAK'. Rugby Park was the rendezvous for a!I football enthusiasts on Thursday, approximately 11.500 people attending the first, rep. fixture of the season. The day was ideal from the playing, point of view, no sun and very little wind being in evidence. The Auckland team was Ihc same as picked, while Castles replaced Howard, the Waikato rover, who was unable to play owing lo injuries. Every inch was now being holly contested and the tackling was deadly. Mac Williams cot offside, and Mitchell’s free-kick again fell short. Auckland again attacked, hut Mac Johnston relieved the pressure by a good lino kick. Play went to Auckland’s end, but Lucas, picking up in the loose, beat five opponents and went on io score under the posts. Ifwcrson had no trouble with ttie kick.
