AN EXHIBIT OF IMPORTANCE. The loss to the dairying industry from infertility and abortion in slock is very considerable, and has been particularly heavy of Jale. A public analyst, who has made a specially of Agricultural Chemistry, states that in cases where one class of stock has been grazed on pasture, especially in intensive farming, for a

considerable period, the soil gels "cattle sick" ,r "sheep sijk" (-as the case may be) ; in other words, it i.impregnatcd wilh germs from I lie stock, or, as some put it, ".soured" from the constant grazing of one class of stock—and infectious diseases such us the above thrive under these conditions.

The use of good quality Lime (such as llangataiki Lime is) is a corrective of these conditions, ils high alkaline nature rendering it a foe to all acidity, while at the same time it acts as a "tonic" to the soil, improving its texture, and increasing the beneficial bacteria.

It imparts also a mineral content, often lacking in constantly grar.ed land, and which, taken up by planl life, and by that imparled to the slock, supplies a needed requirement, to the health and disease resistance of aniip.alri. It also cheeks such weeds as •■pennyroyal,'' which nourish on sour ground, and which conlain a chemical jndiirejiieiil lo Ibe above troubles.
