BUS REGULATIONS.

ENDORSED BY TRADES COUNCIL.

STEP TOWARDS NATIONALISATION

(Special to Times.)

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Prime Minister, who will not return to town before the week-end, will not be the best pleased 1.0 find his bus regulations endorsed by the. Wellington Trade and Labour Council on the ground that they mark another step towards the nationalisation of the means of transport. "That this Council," the official resolution runs, "whole-heartedly endorses the motoromnibus regulations introduced by the Government, and strongly urges that no modification of the regulations as at present drafted should he accededto by the Government, believing as we do that the regulations are in the interests of the people as a whole." Commencing in jest and continuing in earnest the commercial community for months past has been charging Mr Coatcs with socialistic leanings, and Ibis endorsement of His bus regulations by the militant head of the local Labour parly is bound to be quoted to his further discredit. It was the Labour members of tho House of Representatives that made the passage of the Dairy Produce Control Bill through Parliament easy, ami they frankly stated that their purpose meanwhile was to obtain the best substitute they could for the nationalisation of* the industry. It was Mr Massev who bore the brunt of the criticism arising out of that incident, and probably by this time Mr Coatcs has learned to meet such aspersions with the same philosophy as did his former chief.
