OBJECTIONS BY POLICE. A LODGER'S ALLEGATIONS. WANGANUI, Wednesday. The Licensing Bench was engaged to-day in hearing objections by the police to the way the Commercial Hotel had been conducted. The proceedings were taken under Section 190 (J) of the Licensing Act. The objection was that the houre had been conducted ip. an improper manner, drunkenness being permitted therein; that during part of February, 1926, and from about April 26 to May 12 one William Stevenson lodged at the Commercial Hotel and handed over large sums of money to the licensee in advance for liquor and lodgings to bo supplied; that ho received and was supplied Willi intoxicating liquor, being frequently in a stale of drunkenness. Stevenson alleged that he handed over three sums of £SO to the licensee. These were cut out between (lie above mentioned dales. LICENSE RENEWAL DEFERRED. NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. The application of F. C.
