NEW ZEALAND BRASS BAND

A WELLINGTON MOVE. GOOD A 3 ANY VISITING BAND. WELLINGTON, Thursday. Mr 11. Berry, a prominent bandmaster of Australia, who has recently taken up the conductorship of the Wellington Tramways Band, proposes to organise a New- Zealand brass band fit to hold its own witli bands which came over here from Australia and carry off honours at New Zealand contests.

A committee has been formed to assist him and provide finance towards his object. Mr Kerry has engaged Mr J. Morrcll, euphonium player, and Mr E. Edwards, drummer, both of Ihe Argyll and Sutherland Band, lo take up their permanent residence here and play wilh the Tramways ' Band. Mr 1!. Tucker, of the Lithgow Band, champion horn player, of Australia, has also freen secured. Mr Berry considers that New Zealand can turn out as good a band as any. and hopes to make Ihe Tramways Band equal lo any outside competitor.
