DRUNKEN MOTORIST.
A FINE OF £IOO. WHOLE PARTY DRUNK. (By Telegraph-—Press 4csncl.if.lnn.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. In Iho Police Court Mr Poynton, S.M., fined Henry White Hawthorne (40) £IOO for being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car in Khybcr Pass Road. Accused’s counsel said lie could personally testify Hint his client was a good man. He had had a little sickness and a lillle over-indulgence in liquor. He was married, with a family, and was in good circumstances and making money.
A constable staled that accused's car was standing in Hie street. Accused and one woman were in I lie front seat, and nnolher man and another woman in the rear seat. There was no question about accused’s condilion or the eondiiion of Hie oilier three persons, 'file two women were arrested on a charge of drunkenness. The second man escaped.
