The Hon. J. A. Young, Atinister of Health, joined the limited express for Wellington at Frankton last evening. Air Alichael Alyers, a New Zealander, was presented at the icing’s Levee.— London cable. Air J. Edwards, a well-known stock breeder of Southland, is visiting the Waikato Show. Mr 11. J. G. McElroy, who leaves Thames for Auckland after nine years’ residence as clerk of the Thames County Council, was tendered a complimentary dinner by local members, officers and friends on Saturday night. The death occurred last evening of Air David Virtue, who has been town clerk of Timaru for Ihc past 21 years. Air Virtue, who was 66 years ol' age, died suddenly of heart failure. Air J. G. Scanlon, governor of the Terraco Gaol, Wellington, will retire at fie end of Hie month after a period of service of 38 years. Tho Prime Alinistcr, Air Coates, expects to return to Auckland on Saturday morning, and he will probably allend the races at Ellorslic in the afternoon, lie will return to Wellington on Sunday night.

The Hon. R. A. Wright, Atinister of Education, will leave on Thursday for Auckland. On Monday lie will visit Hie Junior High School at Atatamala, connecting with Hie express for Wellington Hie same day.

At the howling green, Cambridge, the president (Air D. .T. Lundon), on behalf of the members, presented Air Geo. Harris, the club’s green superintendent. with a gift of silverware. The president voiced ihe members’ appreciation of Hie splendid service rendered by Air Harris during Hie past season. Air Harris suitably acknowledged the gifl.
