THE DRIFT NORTHWARD.

RESULT OF ADVERTISING. The drift northward is largely due to the great boosting which Waikato has received through the medium of its Winter Show. It is not merely from an advertising standpoint that die Show must be viewed, however. While advertising is one of its chief effects, it is by no means its principal aim. Its primary object is to educate, and as an educational institution it has done marvellous work. As competition is the life of business, so it is the stimulating factor in all forms of production and manufacture. Shows generally have this effect, but the result varies according to the interest which the Show creates. Tin's latter factor depends largely upon the committee of the institution, and it is to the active governing body of the Waikato Winter Show Uiat is due its marvellous growth and, incidentally, all die other benefits which attach to that success.
