Social Evening. On Friday last a social evening was held in the Orini Hall in connection . with the Methodist Church. Musical items were rendered by Rev. and Airs Cocks, of Ilunlly, and their daughter, Dora. Both Mr and Airs Cocks are accomplished musicians and their items were thoroughly enjoyed- Various games were played by young and old and a couple of competitions provided . a good deal of amusement. Supper ! was provided by local ladies and alt j voted tlic evening. a great success. ! Football. j The Orini senior football team journeyed to Ngaruawahia last Saturday and played Ngaruawahia seniors. The game was strenuously contested and for the beginning of the season sur- : prisingly good form was shown. The final score was 9 points lo 8 in Ngaruawahia’s favour. Tlic junior team played Taupiri juniors at Taupiri and Hie result was a drawn game. The Weather. Sharp frosts on Saturday nignt and Sunday night, and cold, bleak weather since, have decided most farmers that winter is at last definitely with us and that it is high time the herds were dried off. Consequently a number are nn once a day milking, and hv the end of the month will lie down the hack paddock.
