Court. At I lie monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court a native named Rewa Whalpu was lined £lO and costs £2 3s for killing two native wood pigeons uti tiie Kaimai road. Officials oT the New Zealand Cooperative llerd-lcsiing Association visited Matamata this week and held a meeting to discuss matters of interest. Those present included Mr Dynes Fulton, Mr C. M. Hume and Professor Riddelt. Mr Fulton, in introducing Professor Riddell, staled that there was no one in New Zealand better qualified to address farmers on the subjects of herdtesting and increasing production. Professor Riddett gave a most interesting address on the same lines at Morrinsville and oilier places. A number of matters, such as branding, calf-marking, etc., were discussed, and at the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was carried hy acclamation. Anglican Ladies’ Guild. Au enjoyable dance in aid of the church funds was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday. The function, which was organised by the Ladies’ Guild, was highly successful, the attendance being largo. Excellent music was supplied by Miss Maliigan’s orchestra, and extras were contributed hy Mesdames Mehrtens and Hitchcock and Miss Snell. Mr T. Prowse made a most efficient M.G., and the supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mrs W. C. Vincent, assisted by ladies of the committee. Altogether ttie dance was one of the most enjoyable yet held by the guild, and a substantial addition is anticipated to the church funds. Primary School Committee. The following we're nominated for the new committee: —Messrs F. E. Lark, Rev. Hampton, T. S. Sloano, L. Flower, F. Hitchcock, J. Mclntyre, T. C. McMillan, R. Barnes and V/. Clover. As the nominations equal the number of vacancies no election will he necessary. Perla Reading. • A meeting of ratepayers in the Perfa riding of Malamata County was held Ibis week. Mr J. Pohlcn, councillor for the Malamata riding, presided, and Messrs Fitzgerald (county engineer) and Barton (county clerk) were also present. Mr 11. nolle It, member for the Peria riding, explained the objects of the meeting, and after discussing the proposals placed before the meeting by tlie engineer the following motion was carried: —"That the roads he improved out of revenue, and that the improvements start from the main roads, starting outwards.” An amendment, that a loan proposal of £IB,OOO he put to the ratepayers for metalling the unmetallcd roads in the riding, was defeated.
