THE REPORT FROM HOME.

The report Messrs Fletcher have received from the London end under date of February 15 is as follows: The avobc parcel of show iambs arrived ex s.s. Devon and were exhibited and judged on our best stair in the main concourse of Smilhfleld Market on Wednesday, 10th inst. They made a very fine display and attracted a great deal of favourable attention from all sections of the trade. The consensus of opinion was that they were equal to anything that has been shown for some lime. The judge has given detailed comment upon the various entries. Some very good lots just missed a high place bv 'being irregular and 100 heavy anl somewhat too wasteful for ideal trade needs. Although as a whole, both the black faces and the whites were desirable and attractive, the black faces were not only most shapely carcases, but were lighter and yet primer than the long-wool exhibit, which makes them distinctly more valuable. The first prize lot were as fine a selection as one could possiblv wish for, and we congratulate the grower;"and we shall be interested to hear how our appraisement coincides witli the judging on the hoof. Tho-carcases, although double-bag-ged, show a good deal of minor'damagc in handling—a general complaint this season. At the same time, the dressing and get-up of the parcel seemed all that could be desired. The progress of the brand over the last few years is due to care in this respect, and to the success of the Auckland breeders in supplying carcases so much nearer the ideal of the trade and is highly commendable
