WATERSIDERS’ STRIKE
PARTIAL HOLD-UP CONTINUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHHISTCHURCH, Friday. The partial hold-up of shipping at Lyttcllon continues. This morning the men unloading the Tugela demanded an extra lid per hour, which had been refused in the case of the Canopus and Coolana. The demand was granted by the captain of the vessel. RUMOUR OF FREE LABOUR. CIIRISTCHURCH, Friday. The position at Lyttcllon has become most serious. 11, is certain that some action to end Ihe position must be laiv.cn next, week, and it is even rumoured that free labour will be called upon lo handle the cargoes now waiting for discharge and loading.
