WOLF IN SHEEP'S SKIN.

NEW SEAMEN'S UNION. APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION. SHIP-OWNERS LODGE OBJECTION. (United Press Association.) (Received April 24, 10.55 a.m.) , MELBOURNE, April 24. Representatives of the Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Association called at the Commonwealth Arbitration Court offices and lodged objections to the registration of the new Seamen's Union of Australasia, application for which was lodged by Mr Walsh as a general president and Mr Raeburn as general secretary, several weeks ago. The association's contention is that the application for the registration of (lie new union is equivalent to an application for the re-registration of an old union which was de-registered last year. The real reason for the union's application is, it is stated, to strengthen the legal position of one of two rival factions among the oflicers of the union, the registration of which was cancelled, in order that some of such officers, who are not joining in this application, may be excluded from any lawful participation in the affairs of the union or branch of the union.
