WAIKATO REFEREES.

MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Waikato Rugby Referees' Association was held last evening,* when Mr W. Brydon (president) occupied Lhc chair. - Annual Report. The president, in his annual report, stated: I regret not being able to report a successful season in so far as the attendance of delegates at meetings was concerned. •However, it is recognised that the non-attendance of delegates was not altogether due to lack of interest in the affairs of the association, but rather to the difficulty of arranging suitable times for the holding of such meetings. During the ensuing season it is to be sincerely hoped that the delegates of all affiliated sub-associations will make every possible effort to attend such meetings as arc called from time to time. Excluding the annual mceling of delegates, on three occasions meetings were called by the hon. secretary, but in each case had to be abandoned owing to there being insufficient members being present to form a quorum. Laws of Came.—At tho' annual meeting of delegates held on May 30, 1920, a rules committee consisting of Messrs Cliffe, Ilabonc and the president (Mr Brydon) was appointed to deal witli points in the interpretation of the rules of the game. Three associations, Hamilton, Cambridge and Waipa submitted a test paper (compiled by this commillce) lo their members and on the whole the results were very satisfactory. The president and hon. secretary attended meetings of the Cambridge and Waipa Associations at the invitation of these bodies in connection with these test papers. They were well received in both instances, and found the interest displayed most encouraging. In addition," this committee was instrumental in sending many points on <o the N.Z.R.H. Association throughout the season and passing on to the affiliated associations the ruling received.

During the season the association supplied referees for several representative matches played under the jurisdiction of the Waikato Rugby Union and in each case the referee appointed did credit to this association.

Mr W. Brydon was re-elected president, and the president of the affiliated unions vice-presidents. Mr P. S. Marshall was re-elected secretary, and a tribute was paid to his past services. Messrs Tooman and Vausc were appointed the Selection Committee with a representative or the Waikato Union.

Messrs Brydon, Clirfe and Mannering were elected a rules committee. Messrs Chapman, Tooman and Mannering, with two positions to be filled later, were appointed an executive.

Mr Tooman was appointed to represent the association on Lhc management committee of the Waikato Rugby Union.
