ARTS AND CRAFTS.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meetinc; of the Arts and Crafts took place on Monday afternoon in Toorak Chambers. Mrs W. J. Stevens presiding. After Ihe minutes had been read and the balance-sheet confirmed. Ihe reports of the various circles were read and proved most satisfactory. The year has been a successful one. from every standpoint and financially the club is sound, having a substantial credit balance in hand. Election of Officers, The election of officers '"" ,he comincr year was proceeded with. Mrs Melville Bell was made president, and Mrsdames 11. C. Ross. F. Jollv and 11. J. Greenslade. vice-presidents. The dual duty of secretary and treasurer was undertaken by Mrs M. Johnson. The two chosen delepales to tilt! Council of Women were Mcs'lamos W. J. Stevens and J. Mackay. The circle conveners elected wore: Arts. Mrs A. Ramsay; Music. Mrs 11. McMullin: iLilerary. Mrs W. J. Stevens: Gardening. Mrs V. Chitty; Crafts. Mrs Pratt. The resignation of Miss 7.. Nathan, as treasurer, was received with recret, and a letter nf thanks for her splendid services in the past is to he forwarded to her. Proposal to Form Women's C!t:ts. The new president then look Ihe chair. A discussion followed on Ihe o-oposal to join in Ihe formation or a ''"omen's Club, which is on foot at the present time. Decided to Await 'Developments. An amendment- was proposed hy Mrs 11. Valdcr to the effect "That the representatives of the Arts and Crafts be empowered to negoliale with the convenors of the club movement, and if conditions were round satisfactory. Mrs E Bullock wished to put another amendment for a straight-out issue, but holh Mrs Ross and she withdrew in favour of Ihe first amendment. The voting was :! I I'm- and 12 against, with I Informal.
