OBITUARY.
MR. CHARLES BLOMFIELD. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. 1 Almost the last of the older school of New Zealand landscape painters, Mr. Charles Blomfield, died at Auckland yesterday, aged 73. Mr. Blomfield was born in London, in 1846, his father being a cutler. lio arrived at Auckland as a youth of to by the ship Gertrude. Mr. Blomfield leaves a widow, two sons, four daughters, 21 grandchildren! and three great-grandchildren. > A MAORI PROPHETESS. MARTON, Monday. Or.ifuary: At Parewanui pa. A hi-; gathering of natives has commenc’d a tangi. MR. HARRY V. GULLY. WELLINGTON, Monday. Mr Harry Vincent Gully, son of the late Mr John Gully, the well-known artist, died here this morning, aged 75. He was the llrst town clerk of Nclsor, a position he held for over 30 years, after which he returned to the legal profession, lie retired eight years ago and has lived in Wellington ever since.
