"OYSTER LEATHER."
"Oyster leather"—so called because it has the appearance of mother-of-peari—is used to fashion attractive envelope hags (writes a London correspondent). Although these have a luxurious appearance they are quite practical for moderately hard use, as the leather, is washable; Some of the prettiest examples are finished with a fancy paste clasp, while others show the leather allied to stamped gold kid. The leather is really white patent with iridescent dyes introduced, and is of French manufacture. It Is the sar:/; as has been used for shoes and evening slippers for some little time. For evening use a little flat vanity-hag of oyster leather is intended to match the slippers worn.
