MEETING THE PROBLEM, NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING. (Reuter.) (Received January 30, 9.15 a.m.) PARIS, January 29. ' The Government has prepared a Bill increasing the Customs dues approximately 30 per cent. It is expected this will yield 400,000,000 francs. . The Chamber during the past few days has been busy with matters of procedure, but simultaneously negotiations are going on behind the scenes to secure some agreement on fiscal matters, in preparation for getting to grips with the problem as Qarly as possible.
