RATANA MAY MOVE.
PROPOSED FARM SCHEME.
WANGANUI, Friday
A reporter was informed to-day th.?.t some of the Ratana executive are seriously considering the removal of the headquarters of the Ratana Church to Te Kuiti.
One Maori said the natives had been pinpricked by local bodies and the health authorities in regard to sanitation at Ratana, and they resent this as interference. Should the headquarters of the church be removed, doubtless this would mean that the large number of Maoris now living at Ratana would also go to Te Kuiti. This, in turn, would be a big loss to business people of Wanganui. It was also mentioned in connection with the removal proposal that a big farming scheme is Doing discussed, whereby young Maoris would be trained in farming pursuits, and the products from the farm be used or sold for the benefit of the new Maori community.
