SCHOLZ m WINNING FORM.
GISBORNE, Friday.
The American athletes, Scholz and Hahn, competed at the Gisborne meeting before 2000 spectators to-day. Scholz gave a magnificent exhibition of sprinting. Hahn appeared to be somewhat harshly treated by the handicapper and failed to register a win. Results are:—
IOOYds Handicap.—A. Thorpe, 14yds 1; J. V. Scholz, scr., 2; L. Sutcliffe, Cjtyds, 3. Time, 9 3-ss. Won by a touch.
75Yds Invitation Race. —J. V. Scholz 1; P. Truman, 2; L. Sutcliffe, 3. Time, 7 4-ss. Won by a few inches. 200Yds Handicap.—J. V. Scholz, scr, 1; J. L. Sutcliffe, 19yds 2; O. Partridge, 10yds 3. Time, 21 3-5s —equal to Australasian record, against the breeze. A great finish. Hahn was handicapped out of the mile which was covered in 4m 34 2-os. Me withdrew from the 440yds event.
