WAIKATO SHOW

Being the first fine day for several years, People's Day at the Waikato Show to-day, was, in consequence, hotter patronised than for a long time past. Both country and townspeople turned out in large numbers, and the Association have every reason to be satisfied with the attendance. . The grounds looked beautifully fresh and green, and with a liberal display of bunting and the gay dresses of the ladies, the scene was quite a vivid one. Agricultural Shows all over the Dominion appear to have suffered in attendances during the past few years, and Show Associations must, if they desire to mainlain their hold on the public, provide something additional to the ordinary show attractions. The chief feature of to-day's exhibition was the equestrian display. Some excellent horses look part in the jumping competitions. antl there was a splendid display of 'hdrscmansJiip and horsewomanship. The chief event was the Dominion jumping competition, for which there • were 17 competitors, including some of' the 'finest hurdlers in the Island. The grand parade was a fine spectacle, when the whole of the prizewinning stock circled the ring, led by the hunters, and followed by the harness and heavy horses, ■ behind which came the cattle, a magnificent array. At the height of the afternoon the crowd was very dense, and appeared to enjoy itself immensely.
