PROFITS AWO DIVIDETtO. At the half-yearly meeting of what is called in London the "General Court of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England" the bank's profits for the half-year ended August .'it, after providing for all contingencies, were stated at, £698,889. This left the amount of "rest," or surplus, at £.',721,981. From Ibis was deducted a dividend of G per cent., less income tax, which covered practically all the net profits reported for the year.
