WEDDING
FRANCIS—HARVEY. A very pretty and popular wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Claudelands, on Wednesday, October 7, in the afternoon, when Miss Thelma Grace Harvey, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. W. Harvey, was married to Mr C. Francis, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland. The. Rev. )l. G. Gilbert officiated. The service was fully choral, and the church was beautifully decorated by the girl friends of the bride. The bride entered the church on
the arm of her father, and was gracefully gowned in.a bridal frock of ivory satin charmeuse, made with a sheath top and petalled skirt. The petals and court train was lined with gold tissue. An 'exquisitely embroidered veil fell over ttiis, and was held in place by a gold head-band and caught at the sides with .gold leaves and orange blossoms. Sho carried a lovely shower bouquet. Her first attendant was her sister, Miss Myra Harvey, in a frock of pink crepe deadline 'and cream fillet lace, finished at the side with posies of blue and pink. She wore a black hat trimmed to tone with the frock, and carried a pink shower bouquet. The second maid of honour was Miss Myra Harvey, cousin of the bride, who wore a frock of powder blue crepe de chine and fillet lace, also finished with pink and blue posies. A black hat similar to the first bridesmaid's was worn, and a pink bouquet carried. The flower girl was Miss Lorraine Wood, niece of the bridegroom, daintily frocked in cream lace and lace mob cap. She carried a beautiful posy. Mr W. Ilaswell acted as best man.
The organ, played by Mr Pro/iton, pealed out the Wedding March, as the bridal parly ran the gauntlet of a hurricane of confetti and- flowers to their cars, which drove them to St. Andrew's Hall, where the reception was held. A pretty idea was carried out by about 50 girls from the High and Technical Schools, and members of St. Andrew's Bible Class, who formed themselves into a.guard of honour, and held an interlaced archway of their colours, blue and white, for the newly - married couple to pass under. The guests were; entertained by a nice musical programme, arranged by Mrs J. B. Baillie, until the breakfast was served. After honouring the usual toasts the happy couple left by motor on their wedding trip to Botorua. Mrs Francis was wearing a smart two-piece coslume of brownfigured silk tricolleltc, and silk marocain, with pretty hat of blue. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a Broadwood piano and to the bridesmaids a silver purse and gold armlets.
