TRAMWAY ROAD.

MOTORISTS' COMPLAINT

NO MONEY AVAILABLE FOR WORK.

The state of Tramway Road was the subject, of a complaint from the Hamilton branch of the Auckland Automobile Association at a meeting of the Waikato County Council this morning. The communication stated that as the road was practically a main thoroughfare from Hamilton to Taupiri, and was in a very rough state, the members of the Automobile Association considered they should move in the direction of having the condition of the road made more suitable for general traffic. The Association added that it was with some diffidence that they approached the Council, as they were not ratepayers to the Council, and they did not wish to impose an unfair burden on Waikato County ratepayers solely in the inter-' esls of motorists. They were willing to co-operate with the Council in obtaining Die support of the Main Highways Board in the matter.

The letter was simply received, councillors remarking that there was no money available for the work. It was also decided to point out to the Automobile Association that the District Highways Council had been over the road and had declined to recommend it as a main highway.
