DEMENTED MOTHER.
SLAYS HER CHILDREN. THEN COMMITS SUICIDE. United Press Association. SYDNEY, December 26. On returning to his home in Mudgee at mid-day, Herbert Ellis opened the bedroom door in looking for his wife, and found the bodies of their two children, Enid, aged three years, and a baby, aged three weeks, lying in bed, both dead. Their throats were terribly gashed. The mother was found lying at the bottom of the bed, also with her throat cut. She was removed lo the hospital, where she died. All the wounds were inflicted with a butcher's knife. Mrs Ellis had been in bad health for some time, and apparently was demented when she committed the acts.
