MOTOR AND TRAM.
COLLISION IN WELLINGTON. SEVERAL PERSONS INJURED. \ By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. As a result of a collision between a motor-car and a tramcar at the corner of Wakefield Street and Lower Cuba' Street this afternoon serious injuries were sustained by a man named Gilbert Landymore, who was an occupant of the car. Less serious injuries were sustained by the other occupants of the car—Mr and Mrs Herbert. Ellis and a small child. ' *
The car was being driven along Wakefield Street, and apparently the driver failed to notice the approach of a down car. The tramcar smashed right into the motor-car, which J was badly knocked about.
The injured persons were taken into the custodian's office at the Town Hall, and were attended by Dr. T. F. Corkill It was found that Mr Landymore, who is 56 years old, had sustained a broken kneecap, in addition to cuts about the face and hands. Owing to* considerable difficulty in securing the services of an ambulance the injured persons could not be taken to the hospital until nearly an hour after the mishap. Mr and Mrs Ellis and the child received cuts about the head. Strong opinions have been expressed at the continued lack of a proper ambulance service in case of street accidents.
