AN INTERNATIONAL CLUB.

TO PROMOTE GOOD FEELING.

A gathering ;of 'the leading tennis players of Britain decided to form an international Lawn Tennis Club, aiming purely at the promotion of international good feeling among the players of all nations. ' The new Club will in no way usurp, or overlap, the existing organisations. .. It ,is :' hoped that branches will be-jormed in every tennis-playing 1 country.;; ■ • - • A committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Sir Leonard Lyle to carry out the idea.

IWATAMATA SUB-ASSOCIATION. A meeting of local tennis enthusiasts was held at the Farmers' Hall on Wednesday, to consider the advisability of forming a sub-Association. Mr Settle (Te'. Poi) was voted to the chair, and lie cailled on Mr Beale (Matarnata) to explain the objects in forming a sub-Association. It was a good move in many ways, allowing the country clubs to be graded, and raising the standard of play. Three delegates wolud have to be elected to meet Cambridge to form the Association. The clubs concerned were Matarnata, Hinuera, Te Pol, Wardvine, Tarangamoana, Waharoa and Okauia.

After discussion, it was decided that there be one delegate for Matarnata, and two for the country dlubs, one northern ane one southern.' This will now have to be reefrred to the respective clubs for consideration, after which another meeting will be held and the delegates elected
