Dairy Co are in a highly stable and satisfactory condition, so much so that at a recent meeting of the directors it was found that the Company’s output was almost equal to that of last season in spite of the secession of some of the suppliers to the Waikato, and the secretary reported that the company’s output to the middle of August had averaged 210 s, about equal to Is 8d f.o.b. An interesting incident tooq place in Raglan the other day, when live horses came down over the Kopua sands to the edge of the tide, it being about half flood at the time. They appeared to hold a consultation and after much snifllng and neighing one of the number took the lead, followed by the other four in single file through the shallows out to the deep waters, where the leader, showing commendable horsy initiation, struck out for the opposite shore, closely followed by number two, who appeared to place Implicit confidence in the sagacity of Its mate. It was interesting to watch their black heads bobbing up and down among the white wavelets as they were slowly borne down the harbour by the strong current, landing some half-mile below their objective, which was a small sandy beach surrounded with rioh verdure. The other three, not being game enough to tackle the job, returned to the sands.
