BARTHELMESS AT STRAND. Rarely docs any motion picture combine such recognised latent as “The Enchanted Cottage,” First National attraction. Its star, Richard Barthclmess, has to his credit a series of unbroken succcssees' in a wide variety of roles, from the Chink in

“Broken Blossoms” and the boy in “Tol’able David," to the fearless youth in “The Fighting Blade.” Its author, Sir Arthur Wing Pinero, is one of the half-dozen leading English playwrights of the last two decades. "The Enchanted Cottage” is the talc bf a physically broken veteran of the Great War, and tells how he found happiness .with the woman of his’ heart. In the cast is May McAvoy, one of the most capable actresses of the screen, Holmes Herbert, Marion Coakley, Florence Short,, Alfred Hickman. Ida Waldrman, and many others of equal distinction. The supporting programme is an excellent one, and includes a screamingly funny Mermaid comedy, entitled “Family Life.” A big double English News film will also be shown. THEATRE ROYAL. A thrilling Metro picture, full of delightful incident and fine action came to this theatre last night. It is called “The Eagle’s Feather" and is a -picturisation of Katherine Newlin Burt’s famous story. "The Eagle’s Feather” contains many scenes of tremendous action and excitement. James Kirkwood and Mary Alden head a cast of able players. One great scene, in which nearly the entire cast participate, is that of a tremendous stampede in which more than four thousand cattle rush across the screen in vivid realistic flight. "The Fighting Adventurer” has a cast including Pat O’Malley, Mary Astor, Raymond Hatton, Warner Oland, Edwin J. Brady, Taylor Carroll, Clarence Geldert, Alfred Fisher, Jack Byron, Jas. Pat O’Malley, who plays the juvenile lead in "The Fighting Adventurer,” Universal-Jewel production to be shown at this theatre to-night, claims distinction because he is one of Ihc very few actors given leading parts who has' emerged from a fight a sadly defeated battler. O’Malley is remembered for the part he htyl in “Fools’ Highway.” Universal-Jewel, starring Mary Philbin. As a gangster he fought against a dozen men. “The Fighting Adventurer” also gives O’Malley a chance to fight, and in eacli case he loses, except where it is a man-to-man affair. An all-star cast directed by Tlmmas Forman, includes, besides 1 O’Malley, Mary Aster, Warner Oland, Edwin .T. Brady, ’ Taylor Carroll, and Alfred Fisher. The supports are good.
