SPECIAL PEDIGREE STUD SALES. PRELIMINARY NOTICE. DISPERSAL SALE OF THE SECOND LARGEST STUD SOUTHDOWN FLOCK IN NEW ZEALAND. TUESDAY, Bth JULY, 1924, AT CRAGGY RANGE HOMESTEAD, Near Havelock North, Hawke's Bay, N.Z. 1000 STUD SOUTHDOWNS. Including Stud Rams, Stud Ewes, and Stud Ram Lambs, but excepting from above total portion of the ewe lambs. Instructed by W. VAN ASHE, ESQ., Craggy Range, Hawke's Bay, Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Murray Roberts and Co., Ltd., will disperse the Craggy Range Stud as above. This Stud was established by the purchase outright of the late G. P. Donnelly's Famous Stud. This Stud was established in 1903, when the late Mr Donnelly acquired from His Majesty the King the Champion and the Reserve Champion Rams at the English Royal Show, together with 12 selected ewes from the same flock. Later importations on a big scale were again made from the Sandringham Stud, and also from Messrs J. and YV.. Langmead, and in 1913, from Sir J. Coleman, of the Reserve Champion Ram at the English Royal Show. In 1921, by purchase, Mr Van Ashe also divided the complete Mangatcwai Stud of F. A. Price, Esq., with Major Taverner. See history of Flock No. 70, which shows' that this Stud originated from direct descendants nf imported sheep, and the noted imported ram, Guildford, the best of his day, and whose blood was availed of in' the best flocks in N.Z., including that of Mr Donnelly. The Craggy Range Flock has been entirely grass fed, and the Auctioneers recommend this Stud, with every confidence, to prospective buyers, as being typical in every respect of the best of the breed. Of) STUD HEIFERS, including the full team of last year's great Show Yearlings, and the daughters of many of the best Show and Producing Cows in the Dominion. 1 K STUD YEARLING BULLS, which . comprise the best bred and most outstanding collection of young bulls yet offered for sale in the Dominion. The Oakview Friesians are noted today as the premier herd in the Southern Hemisphere for true type and heavy production. Cows and heifers bred in the herd have won the highest possible honours in the leading Showrings, and have given as high as 7271 b butterfat in 365 days as two year olds. Many of the foundation cows have also milked over 1001 b per day, and are notable high testers, one mature cow having produced 1381 b butterfat in 30$ days. This is the first Annual Safe, and Mr Green is presenting for unreserved auction a magnificent selection from his notable herd. The Belvedere Herd was founded on Monopoly Blood, and the great sire K.C.B. was also used at Belvedere, while later the noted champion hull, Roberts, a grandson of Lady Viola, was imported and used for many years. A granddaughter of this bull promises to make 10001 b butterfat record. Breeders and dairymen can attend this sale with the utmost confidence that they will be able to purchase outstanding animals, and at' unreserved auction.
