Hall WSeeting. A public meeting was held on Thursday. May 22, for the purpose of discussing affairs connected with the Paterangi Public Hall. Owing to the unsettled state of the weather there was a very poor attendance. A statement'of accounts showed the finances to be satisfactory. The secretary. Mr Scobt-Macky, was desirous of handing the position over to someone else, but in view of the salisfactory state of the''finance, he decided, at the request of the meeting, to continue for" another term. It was deckled to get a quotation for new seats to replace tnose that have been broken. The opinion was expressed that through the renovating of the old Hall by the Social Evenings Gomrnitf.ee, revenue had been diverted from Hie new Hall, and it was decided to fix a charge for entertainments held in the old building with an additional charge for the use of the Hall piano.. At a subsequent meeting it was decided to have a working bee at the cemetery and do what the meeting agreed was very necessary work, including reerecting Hie fences. Term Holiday Party. Mr and Mrs H. Rhodes entertained a number of young people at the home on Saturday night last, prior to the return to school of ' their daughter Xancy and a number of her young friends who were home on vacation. The inclemency of the wcathar failed to dampen the spirits of youth, and a right royal time was spent hi games, music and competitions. A "dinner menu" competition which occasioned a great deal of merriment, was won by Miss Augusta Macky. Miss Ashton was the winner of a "name" competition. The host and hostess left nothing undone that would contribute to the enjoyment of their guests, and a | large room was cleared out and dancing indulged in till supper time, when a sumptuous repast brought to a 'dose a very happy and enjoyable evening. Miss Joyce Strawbridge and Miss Kath Head provided the music for the dancing. Personal. Miss M. Ward, who has been on a visit to her friend, Miss T. Bell,has returned to her home at Walton.
