LOSS OF NGAHERE
FINDING OF NAUTICAL COURT. CAPTAIN & OFFICERS EXONERATED By Telegraph.—Press • Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Nautical Court gave judgment '-, this morning in the inquiry regarding fthe wreck of the Ngahere at Greymouth on May 1, exonerating the \master and officers of the vessel. The considered that Captain Green fflad made all reasonable enquiries, as ;well as' an inspection. The harbourmaster, Captain Cox, had assured the Wster of the Ngahere that there was sufficient water on the bar. When the Rcgulus struck first it ,was signalled to "the signal , station and communicated to the harbourmaster, who did not inf6rm the master of the Ngahere, and allowed the vessel to go out without further sounding to verify the depth of water on the bar. The Court was of opinion that the harbourmaster had committed a serious error of judgment.' The Court therefore exonerated the captain and ofiiccrs from any blame for the disaster.
