Southern visitors to the Walkato Show, which opened in Hamilton on Tuesday, have expressed themselves as being particularly struck with the splendid condition of the lands of the district at this lime of the year, from Ihe standpoint of feed for slock. Everywhere, they stale, there is a very fine growth of grass and root crops, Which is generally nol usual for this period of the year, and the farmers in the Waikafo are confident of a very successful winter season. "I've not seen {ho. Waikafo looking better at this lime of the year," remarked the Hon Mr Bollard this morning. "One would think that the very dry months of the early part of the year, and the late coming of the rains, would have affected the growth or grass, but Ibis has not been so. There is a wonderfully luxurious growth everywhere, and the dairy herds and sheep are in splendid condition." Speaking of the winter exhibitions of (he district, Mr Bollard said that the displays at each of the three exhibitions he bad attended Hamilton, and Baglan) were very good. "There is a keen rivalry amongst the exhibitors which is idee lo see." he said, "and naturally this (eiis satisfactorily with the product's displayed. Linked up with Ihe Walkato Show this year was Hamilton's Diamond Jubilee and the whole of the district saw that the celebration of Hud important event with the show was very fittingly done."
