REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURES. Brown Shield Trial Games. June 3. Lower Waikato v. Hamilton, at iiuntly. June 7. —Wa.hi and Kins Country Combined v. Lower Waikato, at Hamilton. July 1 2. —Brown Shield Game, Auckland v. South Auckland, at Auckland. August.—China v. South Auckland, at Hamilton. NOTES. (By “Lex.”) It is more than probable that South Auckland will play a game a gain'd the Chinese team at notorua. If this game is played it will take place within a week of the Hamilton game. The Chinese team are due to arrive in Wellington on July 15. In “Stray leaves from a diary” published in “The Motorist,” Mrs Brewas, of Hamilton, who travelled on the same steamer as the Chinese team when they returned to China after Ihcir tour of Australia last year, says: The Chinese Soccer team is on board. The r»anrger, Mok Hing—the Chinese surname conies first, unlike our European custom, so that one would address him as Mr Mok—sits next to me at table. A number of the players are ’Varsity boys. All speak English and seem bright, well educated and .ntelligent. At Sandakar, we attended a Soccer match between the Sandakar players and our fellow voyagers, the Chinese team. The latter played a straight-forward sporting game and won easib. Its combination socmen excellent and cne admired the absence of selfish play. The Chinese players spoke in glowing terms of the kindness they received from the Australians during their recent our, and expressed regret at Leaving. The behaviour of these boys is admirable. They are orderly, courteous and modest. and good at all games.” To-day the 5-a-sidc tournament in connection with the Diamond Jubilee is being played and some excellent games should eventuate. “Jock” Tait, the well known outside left of the 1922 South Auckland representative learns and late of IluntIv and Vvaihi Clubs has signed on for Pukcmiro. W. Green, captain of last year’s Hunlly team has also joined the ranks of the Pukemiro team. With these two fine players “Puke” should be very handy when the numbers go up. After very exciting play with the result in doubt till the final whistle went, Glen Massey played a drawn game with Rotowaro on the latier’s ground last Saturday. At Pukemiro the home team defeated Junction Athletic by G to 1. For the second time 1 this season Piako Reserves tailed to fulfil their engagement last Saturday. It is rather a pity this happened and it. is hoped that their officials will see that it is not repealed. The only fixture played on Seddon Park last Saturday was the junior one —Wanderers v Claudelands Rovers. Allhough defeated by a fair margin. Wanderers wore no! disgraced, as Lite score by no means 'indicated the merits of the two teams. With a few mnej games Wanderers will improve a good deal. When one locus back lo the time when the Claudelands Rovers played their first game it can hardly be realised that they are the same team. At present they are leading in the junior championship “Lex” would, however, advise them not to change the positions of their players too often for it is combiirdi >a that makes a Ram and they will need plenty of that when they meet Hunlly on the heme ground.

The following players have been nomiinleel by Ihe Taumarunui Association to play in (he trial game on June 7: —.Miller (right back), Brooks (right half), Snence, (centre half or forward). Spiers (left half), Chamberlain ('outside right), Kerr 'inside right), Jennings (reserve forward). Messrs Downs Mawson and Wilkes have again been appointed selectors for South Auckland representative teams. The- Hamilton team lo play in Hie (rial game on June 3 will be published en Monday.

The valuable shield which has been presented by Mr H. 11. Howden, of Hamilton, for competition amongst iDo schools in Hie South Auckland district will be en view in the next week or Iwo. it is honed that a.large number of schools will compete for (his trophy, and it is also hoped that all enthusiasts will do their lust lo make this eonu.edition a success for remember our representatives of to-morrow urc the school boys of to-day. H is to be regretted that Frank King of Ihe United Club is suffering from an injured leg and it is hoped he wilt have a spceely recovery for the

loss of such a splendid full back is a big blow to the United Club. I hear that the United Club contemplate inserting a clause in their rules prohibiting marriages of their players during the football season. However, "Barnie" is forgiven and "Lex" extends to the happy couple his heartiest congratulations. ' •
