LATINISED ENGLISHMAN.
THE RETURN OF PICCAVER. LEADING VIENNA TENOR. (Australian and N.Z. Gable As: 1.l LONDON, May 28. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Express says that Alfred Piceaver, thp leading tenor of the Vienna State Opera, who shortly sings in the Italian opera season at Covent Garden, made his dehut in Prague in 1011. Piccaver, whose real name is Peckover, is a native of Lincolnshire. He emigrated to the United States in his early youth, studying engineering, when he was advised to go to Italy to study his voice under Rosario. Arrangements arc being made for Piccaver" to tour the United States, Canada and Australia, the last-named with Marie Jeritza, Australian soprano.
