QUEEN AND HOUSING.

"The Queen is the most indefatigable housing inspector I know," said Professor S. I). Adshcad, principal of the Bartlett School of Architecture, University of London, at the Town Planning Exhibition which was opened there recently. He referred to the deep personal interest whoich the Queen and the Prince of Wales take in the town planning reconstruction of the Prince's estate at Kennington, a model of which is one of the most prominent features of the, Exhibition. "Both the Prince and his mother know every house on the estate," he said, "and frequently visit the tenants, many of whom they know personally." Professor Adshead declared that he had been tired out by taking part in one of the Queen's kindly and vigorous tours of the property.

The town planning of the Prince of Wales's estate at Kennington, as shown by the model and acompanying plans, is notable not only for the brightness and general improvement which it has brought, into what was a congested area of dwellings, but also for the method of rebuilding gradually and housing the people in cottages rather than in flats.
