PEDIGREE AYRSHIRES.
SALE AT CLAUDEIU4NQS, The sale, of pedigree Ayrshire cattle, concluded by Messrs WrighH, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., and Abraham- and Williams, Ltd., at the GVnudclands Showgrounds yesterday dragged somewhat, and prices realised ware, from the vendors' viewpoint, raihrr disappointing. The quality or most or the lots submitted was admittedly, high, and at recent, sales of the same breed in other parts or,lhe Dominion a -cod deal more money is said to have been paid for stock.of less value. A\ factor which perhaps contributed somewhal to this was thai a. number or 'Romaics brought, from districts further south were due to calve at dales which dairymen or the Auckland province consider rather late in the season..
The conditions o|' sale provided that no bid of less than 20 guineas would be accepted for any lot offered, which no doubt was responsible foe l.lio passing in at auction or several lots without an offer having been received from buyers. After the acceptance of a bid the sale became unreserved, and as the result a. number or animals for which the owners had previously refused a. gopd deal more money were secured by purchasers at a very moderate outlay.
Tile highest figure secured under the ha miner was 52 guineas, for the. icow Glencairn Agnes, which had gained first and chmapion awards at the morning's show. The winner in Hie heifer class. Highland Mary lit. or /ftborgcldic, was secured for 50 guineas on behalf of a buyer for the Argentine; whlisl the eighl months' old bull Atfiileigh Park Silver King, also made r>o guineas.
