HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.

THAMES VALLEY BOARD* ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held at Te Aroha yesterday. The submission of annual reports provided Hie greatest interest. The following members were present: Messrs F. Glaxton (chairman), C. A. Arthur, P. M. Strange, .!. B. Thomas, J. Price, J. Pohlen, and \V. Howie.

Speaking in regard to the reports read by the chairman, engineers, and manager. Messrs Strange, Price, and Thomas congratulated the gentlemen responsible for the splendid work achieved, by them during- the year. In this respect the ratepayers were well satisfied. Speaking in regard to selling current in bulk, Mr Price asked for actual revenue to be derived from towns, a.j the information would be very important. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the reports, said that particular care had been taken in cacti report to obviate overlapping. The matter of the borer has been taken up by the Board and a reference, to the subject has been made to the Power Boards' Conference. He referred particularly lo the good work carried out by the staff, who turned out night, and day, wet or fine, and carried out necessary urgent repairs. Tlie reports were adopted. On the motion of Mr J. Pohlen and Mr .C. A. Arthur, Mr E. Claxton was unanimously re-elected chairman. Mr. Claxton suitably returned thanks for the continued confidence reposed in him. He took it that the re-appoinl-ment was an indication that his colleagues had not altogether been displeased with his past actions. The operations for the past year had been exceedingly satisfactory. The Board is now getting down lo the normal stride. Other beards had expressed a deep sense of gratitude lo (he Thames Valley Board for its general assistance. The Board had been an example lo the rest of the. boards in New Zealand. The Board was a very harmonious one and each and all bad worked lo the satisfaction of the ratepayers. Mr Arthur "moved Unit Mr E. M. Strange be elected deputy-chairman, and in. doing so contended that Hie Board had been successfully negotiated and managed in its initial stages. Mr Thomas seconded the motion, which w-as carried. Mr Strange returned thanks.

The New Zealand Dairy Company accepted the rati and conditions proposed by the Board for one year for their factories at Wailoa, Waharoa, Te Awamutu and other factories such as Paeroa arid Ngalea, when fully electrified.—Received. The Walhi Borough Council stated that tbe Council had unanimously asrecd to tiie Boatd's proposals and desires Lie Board lo reticulate the town at the earliest possible moment. —Received.

A request from Waharoa from Messrs Gill. W. Symons and A. E. Polglase Tor power, The applicants arc now installing machines in anticipation.—The manager reported that th*j work would be proceeded with on Alexander ltoad when further confirmation is available. The secretary of the Tatuamii, Hall Committee, Mr A. J. Skinner, asked the Hoard to exempt it from the 50 per rent, increase in pbarges for lighting the hall, otherwise to install a meter. The chairman said that the ends would be satisfactorily met if a meter is installed. This was agreed to. The Morrinsvillc Borough Council asked for an additional street light to be eroded at intersection of Hamilton and Boundary Streets. Agreed to.

Messrs C. A. Arthur, J. B. Thomas, G. Price. P. Flail. Strange, and the chairman were appointed a finance committee.
