Mr M. M. Laurensen, of Napier, is in Hamilton for (he Winter Show. Mr T. G. Cooper, of Wellington, is among the visitors to the Show.

Mr R. F. Sandes, of Auckland, was attending the Diamond Jubilee celebrations yesterday.

Mr Austin Chapman (Federal Minister of Trade and Customs) has resigned on account of ill-health. Mr and Mrs 11. Wright, of Waiuku, are staying at the Waikato Hotel. Mr Phillips, of Whangarei, is "In Hamilton for the show, and is located at the Waikato Hotel.

Mr Webb, a member of '.he Palmerston North Winter Show Association, is visiting Hamilton. Mr T. C. Brash, of Wellington, the secretary of the Dairy Control Board, is in Hamilton.

Mr W. A. Veitch, M.P., for Wanganui, accompanied.by Mrs Veitch, is in Hamilton. Mr Veitch will speak at Frankton this evening on the political situation.

A London cablegram states that Mr J. 11. Thomas, the Secretary for the Colonies, who is suffering from pleurisy, is somewhat better. Sir Frederick Young, the noted authority on the salvage of ships, is' in Hamilton. He was present at to-day's meeting of the Rotary Club. Among the guests at the Grand Central are Messrs D. Allen, J . C. Broad, W. Lindsay and C. E. Robertson, of Wellington. Mr and Mrs Hawthorne, of San Francisco, are visiting Hamilton and are staying at the Grand Hotel, Frankton.

Lord .Tellicoc left Frankton last evening by the Main Trunk express for Waimarino. His intention is to proceed to-day to Tokaanu, where he will remain until the end of the week. The staff of the Commercial Hotel at Whangarei met on Monday for the purpose of making' a presentation to Mr and Mrs N. Wilde (formerly of Hamilton) who are leaving the district. After spending a month in Australia Mr Wilde, will, it is understood, reassume a position in Auckland. The unsettled weather necessitated the cancellation of the trip which Lady JcUicoc and her daughters were to have made to the Waitomo Caves. Instead, they stayed last evening at Ruakura, and will return to Auckland by the Kotorua express this afternoon.

Captain M. B. Mac-Donald, and. Messrs Claude Haigh and J. E. Winslow, who are organising an overseas publicity campaign for Now Zealand, by means of liinis of scenery and industry, with the co-operation and assistance of the New Zealand Government, are at present in Hamilton. On the occasion of Ids marriage Mr G. R. Wyllie, of tlie auctioneering staff of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., was presented by the staff with a handsome set of cutlery and table silver. Mr W- 11. Hume, in making the presentation, said it was one of the most pleasant tasks he had had to perform for many years. The present was a token of the staff's regard for Mr Wyllie, and of the very high esteem in which lie was held by all connected wild the firm, He wished both Mr and Mrs Wyllie health, wealth and prosperity. Mr Wyllie suitably repli'ed, after which the recipient of the gift was accorded musical honours.
