LEAGUE FOOTBALL
SOUTH AUCKLAND LEAGUE. The monthly meeting of the South Auckland Rugby League was held last evening, Mr T. Hill (Taupiri) presiding. Delegates were present from Western, Lower Waikato, and Hamilton Leagues; also from the South Auckland Referees' Association. A considerable amount of correspondence from the New Zealand Council, Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury was received and dealt with. Re transfer of L. Stewart (Athletics, Hamilton) to Marist Brothers (Auckland) : This matter was gone into very thoroughly, and discussed fullyAs a result of a resolution in favour of the transfer, and an amendment against the transfer, Stewart's transfer was granted. Embodied in the resolution was a strongly-worded protest against the apparent recruiting in the country districts by Auckland clubs, also intimating that this League would not grant transfers of players under its jurisdiction, unless good reason be shown. The delegates from the League to the New Zealand Council were instructed to bring the above matter very strongly before the members of the Council. Messrs R. T. Hill and J. J. Herrick (vice R. Tindali) were appointed to represent the South Auckland League on the New Zealand Council. Re Australian Universities team: This team will play South Auckland at Hamilton on June 11. It is proposed to play a match. Hamilton Reps. v. Lower Waikato Reps, at Hinemoa Park' on .Tune 3. From the players participating in this match a team will be chosen lo represent South Auckland against the University team. Messrs D. McKerchcr (Lower Waikato), P. Barton (Western) and T. Smith (Hamilton) were appointed selectors for South Auckland League. Mr G. Gillctf was appointed official coach for the South Auckland representatives for season 1924. The delegates to the New Zealand Council were instructed to endeavour to obtain two matches in the Waikato against the English League tourists.
