EASTBOURNE MURDER.

AN EXCITED PUBLIC. DARK WOMAN TRACED. / WILL GIVE EVIDENCE AT INQUEST (Australian end N.Z. Gable Assn.) LONDON, May 6. It has now been revealod that Miss Emily Kaye, the murdered girl, lived in Manchester until two years ago. She was a capable shorthand writer and typistc; employed by the Leith, Stevenson Company, accountants, where she was private secretary to Mr Donald Beilh. Aliss Kaye was a typical, pretty outdoor girl,, a. keen lawn tennis and hockey player. Later she came to London, where she was employed by two city firms'. It was when she was employed by Messrs Robertson, Hill and Company, accountants, that she first met .Mahon (originally cabled Mason), who was general manager of a soda fountain company. The girl wrote to Mrs Bieiby at the beginning of April. Mahon has been remanded to Hailsham, where the inquest on Miss Kaye will open to-morrow. Mahon entered Hie dock, and when charged replied “I have already made a statement which clearly shows I am not tho murderer." (Received Alay 8, 10.15 a.in.) LONDON, May 7. When Mahon was formally charged at Hailsham with the murder of Emily Kaye, he replied: “It was not murder." He was remanded. The public excitement is remarkable. People motored to Hailsham from all parts of the county. Women and men climbed n. high wall and rushed the doors of the court until 200 crushed into scats intended for 50. Accused showed no trace of emotion. The final sensation of the day was an announcement that 1 ho. police had traced the dark woman, and that she would give evidence at the inquest tomorrow. It Is stated that there is no mystery about her movements. She states that she was driven to the bungalow on Good Friday, three days after the doctors believe Aliss Kaye died, and after Mahon motored'her back to Eastbourne, Alahon went on to the Plumpton races.
