DAFFODIL SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The Cunihtklgc Daffodil Society, which Is run under Ihe auspices of the Presbyterian Church, held If •aniiunl meeting on Monday night. Mr Edwin James (vice president) occupied the chair and there w.'is a fair ulteiulanoo of members. The report and balance sheet Its read wore adopted. Tim balance sherd, showed a net profit from the show of £<i2, which amount wan hand - ed over lo the church building fund. The report ahowed that the paid up membership was BG. The show, which was held on September 13 and I i last, was a great success and quite up to the. standard of previous years. The entries In the Narcissus section are Increasing each year, the Increase being- mainly in thc novice oliisses, which have been well catered for I" the schedule and the society has procured suitable bulbs for those wishing to extend their collection, also for new growers who wish to become competitors at the future shows. The Daffodil Cup, as points-prize in the Narcissus section, was again won by Miss Hopkirk and Mrs C. W. Kccle.y won thc points-prize in thc decoration section.
The election of officers resulted: President, Mr Edwin James; vice-pre-sidents, Mrs Murray, Mrs Thompson, Mr W. T. Perkins, and Rev James Hay; manager, Mr A. N. Macky; secretary and treasurer, Mr Edgar James (pro tern.); committee, Mcsdames Hopkirk, Short, Ganc, Misses Hopkirk, Perkins, Watt, and Messrs JA. Watt, A. M. Fisher, 11. 11. McCathle, W. A. Fisher, J. P. Keclcy, R . Haysmith and S. R. James. For the last two years the society has held its show separate from the sale of work. This year the ladies' guild have expressed thc desire that the two bodies should hold the show and sale of work together. Mr Macky brought the matter up on behalf of the ladies' guild and it was decided to appoint a committee consisting of the president, Mr Macky, Mr Hay (convener) and the secretary to me it the ladies and discuss the matter. Ahearty wecome was extended to the Rev and Mrs Hay who since the last annual meeting had come in to the charge of the church as minister. Mr and Mrs Hay were unanimously elected members of the society. The matter of securing a judge for the daffodil section was left in the hands of the president.
