THE OUTBREAK IN BRITAIN. COMPENSATION COSTS £4,237,000. .SLAUGHTERED STOCK. , . (Sydney Sun Cables.) Received May 7, 11.30 a.m. LONDON, May 6. In tibc House of Commons Hon. R. E. Buxton, Minister for Agriculture, announced that 3060 ■cases of foot and mouth disease have been reported since August. Thirty-nine English counties are affetted; eleven Scottish, and two Welsh, resulting in tJhe slaughter of 103,138 cattle and 2969 sheep, and 47,693 pigs. The compensation payable is 'estimated at £i ; ?37,00'0.
