FRECKLES BARRY AT STRAND. Freckles Barry in his latest picture, “The Country Kid,” which commences to-night at the popular New’ Strand Theatre, differs .from the usual kind of Barryian vehicles in that it was specially written round the freckledfaced lad. His past pictures have oecn adaptations of stage successes, but the Warner Brothers, who are producing his pictures, looked, about for something different, and hit upon the idea of making a special story. To this end they procured the services of Julien Josephson, noted scenario writer, who has a reputation for knowing all the kinks and idiosyncracies of boys. Two other youngsters recently hoisted to stardom and long contracts support Wesley in this rollicking picture of the trials and «. tribulations of a young lad.. They are “Spec" O’Donnell, rival of Wesley in freckles and fun, and Baby Bruce Guerin, the four-year-old toddling bit of humanity whose clever work in . “Brass” won him his spurs. These /q three are the principal characters in this happy picture which deals, with the grim fight put up by young Ben Applegate to keep intact the old home and farm sheltering his orphan brothers, Joe and Andy. A monster British news film, a good . comedy, and an interesting scenic complete a fine show. Seats may be booked at Lewis R. Eady and Son’s, Ltd., or by ’phone 1422. THEATRE ROYAL. “Woman to Woman,” -the inspired adaptation of Lady Forbes Robertson’s tremendous stage success,. featuring Betty Compson as the little mother, will be shown to-night and for a short season only. “Woman to Woman" is a powerful story of love and sacrifice. When a French woman loves she does not count the cost! And to Deloryse, the little child-like dancer who whirled amid the sordid gaiety of the Moulin Rouge, love—enchanting, devastating—winged its way into her heart one never-to-be-for-gotten night! It was a man fighting for her country who took her into his - arms and transformed her into a woman—beautiful, trusting, sclf-sac-rificing! And then,'on the eve of the wedding, the inexorable call of duty robbed her of her bridegroom I Through the years she waited for her lover to return and give the son he had never seen the right to hold up his head like other men. And when t.he longed-for moment came—the precious moment when she proudly presented her son (and his), only to learn that the war had robbed him of all memory of her—that he was married! You will thoroughly enjoy this picture and we advise our patrons not to miss it. In addition “The Fox.” featuring Mildred Harris and Cullen Landis, will he shown. This is a story that, combines every element of appeal. A tale of romance and adventure in which the sunshine of love pierces the fog of oppression. The supports are of the usual high standard and the' music by the Royal orchestra excellent. FRANKTON’S OWN THEATRE. “The Sea Wolf,” featuring Noah. Beery with a full all-star cast, is a thrilling story of sea life. Wolf Larsen believes in the-rule of the fist.
