CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce met last night Mr D. L. Smith was voted to the chair in the absence of the president, Mr A. M. Bisley. There was a small attendance. The Wembley Display. The Manager of the Trades’ Markets and Exhibition, Ltd., London, in writing in respect of Exhibition matters stated that there might be bakers, confectioners or grocers among the members. The Chamber was asked to advise such members that the tw T o trade exhibitions in w’hich they would be particularly interested would take place in London in September The letter was merely received. Route, to Kawhia The hon. secretary of the Oparau Settlers’ Association advised that a meeting of settlers, decided to circulate a petition throughout the districts concerned asking the Minister of Public Works to continue the works on tile Moerangi Extension road with a view of early completing the road and thus linking up Kawhia With Haanil ton by the shortest route. It was asked that the assistance of the Chamber be given in the matter. The letter was received. “Postcard” Week. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce advised that “Postcard Week” which had been deferred owing to the strike had been reinstated for me week ending Saturday, May 24 (Empire Day). That week would fit in with the Frisco mail going forward and wouid be in good time for publicity to be given the New Zealand Court at the British Empire Exhibition.
