FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
AN ALLEGED THREAT.
BY THE KU KLUX KLAN
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. In connection with the fire at Mount Eden Road, Mr Jolly states that a fewweeks ago, just after the Newmarket school was burned, a stranger came into his shop and said: "Take warning. I am connected with the Ku Klux Klan. These four shops are going to be burned down." Mr Jolly treated the matter as the ravings of an irresponsible crank, but now regards the matter more seriously. The block of three shops was owned by Winstone's Estate, and insured for iloOO. Jolly's buildings were owned by Mr W. Stevens, of Kaukapapakap.i, Hi's stock was insured for £250 in Ihc Queensland Company. Mrs Thompson, confectioner, had her stock covered by £2OO in the Royal Office.
