Mr J. Scott, of Wellington, who has been visiting Hamilton, left today for Auckland.

Mr T. C. Gormley, of Auckland, is amongst the guests at the Brighton Hotel.

The presentation of a silver inkstand has been made to Mr H. Keary, superintendent of telegraphs at Auckland, upon his retirement, by the staff of the chief telegraph office. At a meeting of the Fairfield Soheel a resolution of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr' T. C. Irving, who had been a valuable exmember of th e committee. Several members spoke to the high regard in which the deceased gentleman was held in the community, his high integrity and moral worth commanding the respect of all.

His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Jellicoe, will leave Auckland on Tuesday morning, proceeding to Cambridge, where he will unveil the district war memorial in the afternoon. Immediately afterwards he will unveil a memorial window in < th c Cambridge Anglican Church. In the evening he will be entertained by the Freemasons' Lodge. He will afterwards proceed to Poukawa, Hawke's Bay, where he will be the guest of Mr H. M. Campbell. Mr R. McGillrVray, of the Instructional staff Department of Agriculture, who returned several weeks ago from the United Kingdom, he had been taking courses in agricultural colleges, has been appointed assistant instructor of the Otago and Southland district, to be stationed at Invercargill. Prior to his visit to the United Kingdom he was assistant instructor of the Canterbury district.
