MODERN TRANSPORT.

IMPROVED HAMILTON SERVICES.

The public of Hamilton and Frankton, also visitors to our town, have little cause for complaint in regard to transport between Frankton Junction, Hamilton, and Hamilton East, as there are now a large number of up-to-date vehicles plying for hire at all hours of the day and night. This fine fleet Is shortly"to be augmented by the addition of*a magnificent new 'bus which has been built to the order of the Watson 'Bus Co. The body is without doubt a masterpiece and the builders, Messrs Pomeroy and Co, Ltd, are to be congratulated, on the high standard of work turned out by their truly competent staff. The body, which is fitted to one of the well known Brockway 30 cwt chassi, is finished in green and gold with red wheels, and is built in an exceptionally strong manner, being specially stayed all round with flat steel bands, thus eliminating the squeaks and creaks usually associated with the bigger type of motor 'bus. The interior is panelled with a novel system of mirrors, which are used as advertising mediums by various firms. Careful attention has been paid to the seating, which is able to accommodate 34 passengers. These seats are of the full squab type similar to motor car seats, and they are upholstered in the best of black leather. The matter of ventilation has also been considered and the engine exhaust pipe has been carried right to the rear of the chassis, thus preventing the fumes from the exhaust box entering the interior of the 'bus.

The Brockway 'bus chassis, which was imported to the order of the Watson 'Bus Coy., is especially designed for the comfortable transportation of passengers, being fitted with pneumatic tyres with all the latest improvements, including electric light and self starter equipment. The chassis Itself is exceptionally long, having a wheel base of 154 inches, which gives sufficient length for the accommodation of a body similar to the one now fitted, thus doing away with the necessity of having the rear seats overhanging the end of the chassis. Another feature which will appeal to the travelling public will be the case of access due to the fact that the body is mounted not on a truck chassis, but on a specially designed chassis enabling the body to be set very low. This also ensures greater stability.

It is the intention of the Watson 'Bus Co. to provide an improved service to all suburbs nf Hamilton, and they guarantee that their new vehicle will ride just as well as any motor car. The active members of the firm arc Messrs W. B. Watson and W. B. Pirie. The former, who is well known in the district as a careful driver, is the originator of the new venture, and he and his associates deserve every encouragement in their enterprise. Mr W. R. Pirie, who will have charge of the Brockway 'Bus, has had a wide experience in transport matters, having been in sole charge of some fifty motor trucks belonging to the Arctic Ice Co., of Winnipeg, Canada. Efficiency will be the watchword of the new firm, and it is their intention to cater for picnic parties, sports bodies, etc., and quotes will be gladly given to those requiring the services of the "Green 'Bus." Messrs Pomeroy and Co., Ltd., the local agents for the Brockway Truck, are confident that the new 'bus will give every "satisfaction to the owners and the public generally; it is the first special model of its kind to come to the Dominion, and judging by its sturdy construction and appearance we have no hesitation in saying that it will live up to the reputation it has earned in other parts of the world. - . 236
